ART PROJECTS
Personal Projects:
- Learned Corel Paint on the Mac Computer in order to show that one could paint on the computer using the tools laid out by Corel without using a scanned image. I continue to paint on the computer and rarely use an image that I’ve scanned from some other place. I started this in 1998 with the Windows Paint program and continued my learning process through Art Dabbler, a children’s program. When Corel bought Art Dabbler, I started using the Corel Painter programs and have been using them ever since. I saw the amazing potential in the use of the computer to make art and specifically fine art. Though fine art created on the computer is slow to be accepted as fine art, I believe it is just as valid as art created by hand in any other medium and continue to make art using a pen mouse, a pressure sensitive tablet, computer and two monitors.
Projects for Organizations
- Created a poster for Palatine/Inverness Arts Council Fund Raising Event – Jazz for Art.
- Created application forms for Palatine/Inverness Arts Council art fair.
- Put together an art class for grade school students using color and symbols. Taught students the emotional meaning of color, the way color was used in daily life, and how to handle color with paint.
- Worked with the Palatine/Inverness Arts Council calendar and awards event for children grades 1 through 12.
- Wrote an article, “What is Art” for the Palatine Countryside News.
- Wrote a column “What is Art” for the Silver Valley Voice to enhance the membership of art organizations and local knowledge of the importance of art in our lives for one year. In this column I covered the pricing of art, the use of art in daily life from clothes to appliances to wallpaper, how art is sold in galleries, and many other topics relating to art.
